FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
QUESTION: Why Raw Food Only?
Firstly let us look at what the process does.
When food enters the body it has to be reduced to a liquid to be processed in our digestive tract. This is where our teeth come into play and grind, chew, and generally break up the food pieces whilst mixing saliva with it the digestion starts in the mouth.
Raw fruit and vegetables the chewing action actually is freeing the juice from the pulp and all the nutrition is in the juice not the fibre, the fibre is the broom for the intestines to keep it passing through. The juice of every fruit and vegetable is laden enzymes and they are the exact enzymes we need to digest that particular foods and so the body doesn’t need to take metabolic enzymes to help with the digesting job. To pass through the gut wall all minerals and vitamins have to be in colloidal (fully dissolved liquid form) and that is exactly how they are in raw food and because of this, this is why it is easier to digest and promotes the best healing. At this stage it is still living food. When we chew raw foods we are actually doing what the juicer machine does but it is inside our mouth and as the digestive juices are added as we are smashing the fibres and pulp there is very little oxidisation taking place. When foods are heated to just over 40 c or 104 f all the enzymes are killed so the food becomes dead food. In addition many of the minerals are changed and are no longer colloidal but inorganic minerals not assimilated easily into the body. Possibly the most glaring example of this is milk. Milk has undoubtedly a very high content of calcium, yet worldwide statistics show that the higher the national dairy consumption the higher the osteoporosis (there is a graph showing this) and there seems to be a good reason. I have read many studies that say similar statements that the calcium in pasteurised milk and Ultra High Temperature (UHT) milk is worse. The calcium which was organic calcium in natural milk after heat treating becomes inorganic and it to takes calcium from body tissues (usually bone) to help deal with the inorganic calcium then it doesn’t replace it in the bone because there is none left to do that. Similar things happen in vitamins and studies of animal. Experiments done by Hallelujah Acres showed that when we eat cooked (dead) food after the digestion process there is a net average 15% of the original raw nutrients absorbed in the body, when we eat it raw we retain 35% but when we juice it in one of the better juicers that don’t oxidise the juice (see more on this subject in Addendum 1) we actually increase the absorption rate to 35%, but when we drink the juice from one of these juicers a healthy gut can absorb up to 80% of the nutrients because there is little digestion work or energy and it happens quickly.
One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out what is best for us and the question really should be why on earth do we cook our foods?
QUESTION: Where do we get our Protein from?
This is a very good question. The only thing we are short on in this diet is Vit B12 and we do have to supplement occasionally.
Animal protein because of very clever advertising and political lobbying is classified as First Class Protein. Plants do have protein within them and because of the same reason it is said to be second class protein however people who eat a lot of second class protein don’t get cancer and people who eat a lot of 1st class protein do get cancer and all the other Western degenerative diseases including Heart, Alzheimer’s, MS, Diabetes (both type 1 & 2), Arthritis as well as Cancers.
The animal proteins includes all meats, offal, eggs, fish, chicken, all are animal proteins, the worst of the worst is dairy products except cream and products of cream like butter which is pure fat, no protein. Above 5% of our dietary intake in any animal protein starts to put us at risk of the above diseases there is a statistical graph in the book to show how just a little more, past a certain point adds greatly to their risk factors.
Solution:
The simple solution is to eat all unprocessed or un-cooked whole plant based protein and all that means is to eat as much variety as possible particularly nuts and vegetables including Broccoli, Brussel sprouts and drink plenty of carrot, green leafy vegetables, spinach, beetroot, celery, garlic, ginger juices and fruit juices that are in season and fresh made juice.
We can’t eat enough whole vegetables to make up for the minerals that have been lost in our foods due to the devitalising of the soils since the modernised farming techniques and artificial fertilisers usage has been increasing so that the mineral content of a whole range of fruits and vegetables according to tests done in Britain, USA and Australia indicate that up to 75% of the minerals in the soil at the turn of the century are now missing so are the minerals in the food we eat. We can however drink enough high quality juices to make up for this short fall and that is a major factor in the Natural raw food diet that restores wellbeing and that has been used by a number of prominent people to reverse cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis and other diseases so who am I to argue against such a body of evidence. People who either have any of the above diseases or have them in the family linage should be very, very careful and because I have Arthritis and am predisposed to it and Haemochromatosis and others, I made the decision to get as close to Zero animal protein as possible and until I got on top of the diseases was really strict only varying it when my dear old mum would lovingly prepare for me a steamed rice pudding, or an ox-tail stew both of which I have adored for a long time and she so lovingly prepared, I mean one could almost taste the love and see it in her eye as she watched me enjoy her hand work. I figure that to rudely decline or reject something she has so caring and lovingly prepared and what the associated hurt would achieve very little benefits of a positive nature, in fact I have seen university studies that show a substantial percentage (can’t remember the exact stats) of hospital patients improve faster when they get home on food prepared and served with great love by a soul mate.
The same applies now when out with close friends and the wife has also lovingly prepared food they love, but as soon as I get home it is strict as can be. Interesting it takes several days to get it out of the system and start to feel the difference after such a meal but it does come right again. If I was starting over again and people invited me out I would do as before making a point of telling them about my food restrictions and that this diet has substantially reduced my pain levels and is doing me good. They always seemed to understand before and I believe they would respond similarly again.
Another Good Question would be: If we must eat the Cattle for our protein where do the cattle get it from?
If they get it from the grasses and green herbs of the field why should we get it second hand? Why not get it first hand?
QUESTION: What about food when we are out?
This is a good question as it can present real challenges yet I think so long as we use common sense (this doesn’t apply if I was just starting out with a chronic issue I was as strict as strict at that stage) for instance once I got over the hump, all pain gone and X-Rays showing meaningful improvements this meant that the process of reversal has well started so I would start and take a few liberties but even today when we go out to a place or meetings that have set menus I always ring up as first option to ask if there is any chance of getting a salad with no meat or dairy on it and I can only think of two that had difficulty, one was a group meeting at a steak house where the menu was roast dinner with beef or pork and that was that, the other was a Chinese self servery where we choose what we eat and it was easy to select Fresh fruit from the desert bar first to set up the flora in the gut then Chinese vegetables and various vegetable dishes. I did have a small amount of the crunchy bits on the outside of the roast at the carvery. Last week we were out for the day visiting the Hunter Valley Vineyards to see the largest display gardens in Australia, beautiful they were, but when it came to lunch we just went from place to place till we found a menu that had what we wanted on it, sat down and ordered and enjoyed the food and each others company. We can stand some deviation and whilst it is proven and the above graph shows it is reasonably safe to have up to 5% what it doesn’t show and it isn’t till one gets sufficiently used to reading what the body is telling us that we realise just how long it takes to get back to normal and feel back on top again after a breakout.
QUESTION: Feeling tired constantly?
Whilst this isn’t the only cause it is a partial answer, in one of his books Dr Norman Walker gives a detailed description of how the electronics of the body works and for us engineering type who want to know the ins and outs of how and why things work Walker in two of his books, “The Natural Way To Vibrant Health” and “Colon Health the key to Vibrant Life” tells us something I had never read nor understood, how the two little organs at the base of the brain called the Thalamus and Hypothalamus and how important they are in distributing energies throughout the body and how tonsil removal creates a disturbance in this distribution and doesn’t show up for years to come. How the colon interacts with these organs and the pineal gland and interestingly the appendix all fit into this energy distribution network. Both books are worth a read particularly the colon books. What I smartly picked up was that once an organ is in the bucket there is no chance of ever reversing the damage that does and I would encourage my kids and grandkids to always look toward healing before removal irrespective of what any so called expert surgeon says, remembering that a surgeon makes his money removing body parts with his/her knife so there is a bias and the sickness industry perpetuates this practice. Having experienced first hand one of the best surgeons in this country on hip replacements operated and replaced my right hip and in due recognition to him it was bad, really shot and any surgeon worth his/her salt would have done exactly the same so no negative reflection on him. Where I was at that time and what I knew then it was the right thing to do but now standing on the winners podium looking back it is easy to have 20-20 vision and be critical so I don’t want to go there but simply say that with what I now know and had I known this then it would have never got to that stage and would never have needed replacing, that it is possible by removing the cause and feeding the body the nutrition it needs to build a strong immune system and to build strong new cells it is simply possible to replace all the diseased cells one at a time needing no operation simply by changing what we put on the end of our forks. As I write this just about every formally badly affected joint has been fully replaced with what we would call in the automotive world as, genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) parts, one cell at a time. At the same time removing the disease that caused it in the first place so it can’t again pop its head up to affect other joints as it chooses. Same thing goes with cancers, scientific medicine removes the tumours (symptoms) whilst leaving the real cause, Cancer still there to strike again whenever it is ready often worse than the first time. Sure they often treat the body with Ray treatment that is again treating the area around the tumour (symptom) or one of the most toxic drugs imaginable that increases the toxins in storage in the body for years causing all sorts of unwanted side effects but never removes or treats the pre-disposition to the disease and then sending patients home to eat the very foods that promoted the disease in the first place, how good is that ah? Really good science?
Arguments that claim this type of medicine controlled by the drug houses and hospitals is a good example of a system designed to promote profits when it could just as easy kill the disease (the cause) and rid the patients of the disease leaving them with a diet to promote great wellbeing instead of keeping them alive as long as possible and milking the system (including Government and patients payments) to maximise profits see Addendum 2 the ABC Report and statements by prominent WA Professors who were awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine.
